1. Use kitchen shears to cut pita bread into ghost shapes.

Planning on propping the ghosts up in the bowl of hummus? Cut somewhat flat bottoms for easier standing.

2. Use a stainless steel straw to poke eyes and mouths into all of the pita ghosts.

3. Put the pita ghosts into a mixing bowl and spray with avocado oil, making sure to get all sides.

Then toss with the following seasonings:

  • Dried basil
  • Dried oregano
  • Onion powder
  • Salt

4. Put seasoned pita ghosts into the air fryer basket, and air fry at 390 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes, stopping once or twice to flip the ghosts.

Remember: Every air fryer runs differently. Times given are a general recommendation and should be tested in your own air fryer. Adjust as needed.

Alternative baking instructions: To bake the pita ghosts in a standard oven, evenly place the ghosts on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, stopping once halfway through to flip them over.
